Wine is supposed to smell and taste like... well, wine, right? At the end of the day, it's just fermented grape juice. But good wine is constantly evolving and simultaneously expressive of varietal (type of grape), the place where it comes from, winemaking style, and age. And good wine provides us clues towards being able to determine all of those things through sight, smell and taste alone.
In this class we'll teach you how to assess wine - the color, fruit, wood, and earth characteristics that help us properly "call" a wine without seeing a bottle. We'll blind taste several wines, discuss what we're getting out of the wine and let you take your best guess on its makeup before the big reveal!
