Montalcino, Italy
This wine may be one of the best values in the Italian wine world. It is made entirely of Sangiovese, and the best examples show a family relationship to Brunello di Montalcino but are more drinkable when young, and of course quite a bit less expensive. Padelletti’s example is fresh, berryish, mid-weight, balanced between fruit and acidity, and a very useful table wine.
