Sardinia, Italy
Vermentino is a light white that grows all over the Mediterranean, but it gets most of its fame and Sauvignon Blanc-like characteristics from the island of Sardegna. Antonella Corda's Vermentino is a little bit more of a structured white due to varying amounts of skin contact (3-12 hours), but nothing that constitutes an orange wine. This helps to pick up the aromatics and texture while reflecting the two spots in which it’s grown (one in a limestone dominant site, the other in an old riverbed that gives it a little more palate weight).
A tart and flavorful fruit profile of peach and lemon zest, slight gooseberry aromatics, precise linear minerality, with a welcomed richness in texture underneath it all.
