The story

First written down · 1900, Baião and Resende, Portugal

Avesso is native to the inland edge of the Vinho Verde region, with Baião and adjoining subregions named as its birthplace. It was classified in Baião and Resende by Menezes in 1900. After a period of lesser use, recent years have seen renewed planting and more varietal bottlings in Amarante, Paiva and Sousa.
