The story
DNA profiling showed that the Greco Bianco used for Greco di Bianco in Calabria is the same variety as Malvasia di Lipari and is distinct from the Greco of Campania. Researchers also found it matches Malvasia di Sardegna and related Malvasias around the Mediterranean. It now survives mainly in Calabria for the Greco di Bianco passito and under Malvasia names in Sicily and Sardinia.
