Grenache Gris is the grey-skinned color mutation of Grenache. It appears in early 20th century records in Spain as Garnacha Roja and in Roussillon texts as Grenache rose or gris. Long used for vin doux naturel and for pale gris wines on Mediterranean sands, it has seen renewed interest for dry whites in Roussillon and Empordà as plantings there have grown in recent years.
