Bred by Prof. Vilém Kraus at Mendel University's Lednice experimental vineyard in 1965 by crossing (Saint Laurent × Portugieser Blau) × Alibernet to produce an early-ripening Czech teinturier; registered in the Czech State Variety Register in 1991.
