Article: Brouwerij De Glazen Toren

Brouwerij De Glazen Toren
Officially established in 2004 in the Flemish town of Erpe-Mere, Brouwerij De Glazen Toren was created by two lifelong friends, mathematician-turned-brewer Jef Van Den Steen and lawyer-turned-brewer Dirk De Pauw. Both men brought academic rigor and brewing know-how to the venture, having trained formally at the renowned Ghent Brewery School. The name “Glazen Toren,” or “Glass Tower,” reflects their philosophy of transparency and honesty in brewing—nothing hidden, only quality.
Two highlights from their lineup are the Dubbel Witbier showcasing an original style that layers the spice, citrus, and freshness of a Belgian wit with the richer malt body of a dubbel—surprising, aromatic, and deeply satisfying. Then the Ondineke Oilsjtersen, named after a character from local folklore, is a refined Belgian Tripel: golden, dry, delicately fruity, and balanced with a gentle strength.
Glazen Toren brews with patience and tradition at the forefront: open fermentation, bottle conditioning, and no shortcuts. Each beer is released in large-format bottles designed for sharing and aging, capturing the spirit of Belgian brewing at its most authentic. Available in the shop!
