Gaudioso Wines
The Gaudioso family’s roots in Sicilian wine stretch back more than a century. Their vineyards sit in the hills near Agrigento, on the island’s southern coast, where limestone soils and Mediterranean breezes have long made this a prime area for growing grapes. For decades they sold fruit to local cooperatives, but in the 1990s the family began bottling under their own name, determined to capture the character of their land more directly.
Today, Antonio and Rosa Gaudioso run the estate, continuing the traditions passed down while farming with a modern sensibility. The vineyards are fully biodynamic and managed without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Compost, cover crops, and natural preparations nurture the soils, while small amounts of copper and sulfur are used only when necessary. Every task is guided by natural cycles: grapes are harvested by hand, biodiversity is encouraged, and yields are deliberately kept low. The philosophy is straightforward—respect the vineyard, work by hand whenever possible, and intervene in the cellar only as needed.
The wines reflect both heritage and curiosity. Their Syrah (now available by the glass at the bar!) shows how an international grape can take on a distinctly Sicilian voice, while the Ramato, made in the Venetian style from Pinot Grigio, offers a nod to Italy’s broader traditions. What unites them is the same guiding principle: honest, expressive wines born from a family’s long relationship with their land.
