
Marangona Winery
Marangona Winery is located in Pozzolengo, just south of Lake Garda, in the heart of Lugana DOC. Founded in 1973 and housed in a 17th century farmhouse, the estate takes its name from the “marangona”, the bell once used to mark the start and end of the work day for the city’s carpenters. Today, Marangona farms roughly 75 acres of organically certified vineyards in the region’s distinctive clay-limestone soils, an environment especially well suited to Lugana’s native grapes.
Since taking over the estate in 2007, Alessandro and Laura Cutolo have shaped Marangona into one of the most character-driven producers in the appellation. Their approach centers on organic farming, low yields, and minimal intervention in the cellar, with spontaneous fermentations and restrained sulfur use. Aging is primarily in stainless steel or cement, emphasizing purity, texture, and a clear expression of place rather than overt winemaking influence.

While Marangona is best known for its focused, mineral-driven Lugana wines, the estate also produces a vibrant Chiaretto Rosato from local red varieties Groppello and Marzemino along with Barbera and Sangiovese. We’re now serving their 2024 Chiaretto Rosato by the glass at the bar—a crisp, sharp-edged, and expressive rosé with bright strawberry notes, hints of salted watermelon, and a clean, refreshing finish that captures the lighter, more playful side of the Lake Garda zone without losing the winery’s signature precision.
