Domaine Eden
2022 Domaine Eden Chardonnay Santa Cruz Mountains 750mL
From the Mount Eden family in the cool ridges above Silicon Valley, Domaine Eden is the mountain Chardonnay meant to be enjoyed sooner, with the same precision and intent. Jeffrey and Ellie Patterson steer the wines—he has led the cellar since 1983; she runs the business. Dry-farmed fruit plus a choice to ferment and age in French barrels, half of them new, give the wine its quiet polish. Aging nine months on the lees, the spent yeast that adds texture, and letting the acidity soften in barrel are decisions that keep the line tight while adding gentle nut and vanilla tones.
The wine is precise and detailed, citrus and earth leading, with a crisp, stony snap. Subtle hazelnut with vanilla folds in without weighing it down, with firm, refreshing acidity. The finish is long, a modern, linear profile that still carries California richness.

Domaine Eden
Jeffrey and Ellie Patterson arrived in the early 1980s, with Jeffrey becoming winemaker in 1983 and Ellie managing the business. In 2007 they purchased the nearby former Cinnabar winery and vineyards, renaming the site Domaine Eden for wines meant to drink earlier than the Mount Eden estate bottlings.
Today the family continues to farm and make wine high above Silicon Valley, focusing on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. Domaine Eden wines are fermented with natural yeast and aged in French barrels, following the same principles as the estate wines but aimed at approachability early on.
