Bodegas Moraza
2023 Bodegas Moraza 'San Vicente de la Sonsierra' Rioja Alta 750mL
Rioja rarely tastes this clean and lifted, because many bottles lean on oak for shape. This one does not. Bodegas Moraza, led by Janire Moraza and her husband, Patricio Brongo, farms certified organic and biodynamic vines around San Vicente de la Sonsierra and keeps Tempranillo in concrete from start to finish. Native yeast and concrete hold onto fruit and detail, while limestone clay at 450 to 650 meters adds snap and a cool red tone. The result is a fresh, midweight Rioja that shows place and grape before anything else.
Bright and juicy with a savory and spicy note up front. Red cherry and raspberry carry through with bright acidity and a light to medium frame, then a medium finish with a savory edge.
