Bodega Eduardo Peña

2024 María Andrea Ribeiro Blanco 750mL

Sale price$30.00

8 in stock

Crisp and generous at once. It opens on lemon and peach, then glides in a supple, slightly oily line, leaving a bay leaf echo and a long, stony finish. Bright acidity keeps it lively and focused.

Eduardo Peña brings together Treixadura, Albariño and Loureira from his estate slopes above the Castrelo de Miño reservoir, aiming for clarity and lift. He briefly rests the juice with the grape skins under dry ice to lock in delicate aromas, then keeps the rest of the work quiet so the blend speaks. It is expressive without being sweet, textured without becoming heavy, and distinctly Ribeiro.

Bodega Eduardo Peña

Eduardo Peña is a small, family winery in Barral, Castrelo de Miño, in the Ribeiro DOC of Galicia. Founded in 2005, the cellar is partly buried into the hillside above the Castrelo de Miño reservoir to keep temperatures steady and to work as gently as possible, using gravity where it can.

They farm around 10 hectares of estate vines on west facing slopes at roughly 250 meters, planted to local white varieties such as Treixadura, Albariño and Loureira. The soils are poor and mixed, with sand, slate and stones, and the aim is to bottle wines that reflect Ribeiro’s native grapes and its Atlantic influenced climate.

Production is modest and focused on whites. Fruit is worked by variety to capture clean aromas and freshness, and the winery reports annual output around 50,000 bottles, all from their own vineyards.
