2024 Meinklang Mulatschak Orange 750ml
Bon Appetit singled out Meinklang’s orange as a natural wine list staple, which is the point here: a bright, friendly skin-contact wine you can pour for almost anyone. The Michlits family’s Demeter certified biodynamic farm in Burgenland sets the standard for great farming in the region - a polycultural estate with vineyards, grains, and a working herd whose compost feeds the soils. Pinot Gris and Traminer spend 5 to 7 days on their skins for aroma and gentle grip, while Welschriesling is direct-pressed for freshness; then it all rests 4 months on fine lees, the spent yeast that adds texture.
Aromatic and bright, it shows yellow flowers, yellow peach and pear, a touch of citrus peel, and a lightly cidery tang, with subtle rose and lychee peeking through. It stays light and gently grippy, with a lingering saline finish. A good choice for a 'starter' orange wine.

The goal is a closed loop: healthy soils, diverse cover crops and animals supporting the vines, then clean ferments that let the fruit speak. The result spans fresh everyday bottlings to skin fermented wines, all rooted in the same farm-first approach.
