Quercecchio
Quercecchio is one of Montalcino's historic estates, with winemaking roots dating back to the 1300s when the property was part of a former Benedictine monastery. Today, the estate remains in the hands of the Salvioni family, with fifth-generation winemaker Maria Grazia Salvioni continuing a tradition that has spanned more than 700 years.
At 83 years old, Maria still oversees the vineyards and cellar, crafting wines from vines perched high in the small hamlet of Tavernelle, surrounded by some of Montalcino's most renowned vineyards.
