Tenuta di Tavignano
2024 Tenuta di Tavignano Il Pestifero 'Naughty Boy' Frizzante Bianco 750ml
From Verdicchio specialists Tavignano, this is their breezy sparkler made for friends. Ondine de la Feld leads the estate and created the playful Mostri label that graces (menaces?) Il Pestifero. Bottled before fermentation finishes, it develops its fizz in the bottle, is left on the lees, and is not disgorged, so it pours a little hazy. Certified organic fruit, mostly Verdicchio with a touch of Sangiovese. Low alcohol keeps it lifted and easy to share.
Dry and as fresh as the day the grapes were pressed. White orchard fruits lead with citrus and light floral lift, a delicate, lively bead, and a stony snap. Pear skin tannins bring gentle grip, and the finish rises on a zesty lift. Hazy and celebratory!

Tenuta di Tavignano
They rebuilt the cellar in 2005 with underground steel tanks for cool fermentations, and they age reds in French barriques and large Slavonian oak. In 2018 the estate achieved organic certification, the result of a conversion that began in 2014.
They focus on Verdicchio and other native grapes, farm organically, and work to preserve freshness and site character through careful fermentations and minimal handling.
