Tessier Winery

2024 Tessier Winery 'Day Dreaming' 750mL

Sale price$35.00

5 in stock

A rare California blend of Grenache, Gamay and Pinot Noir from Zabala Vineyard in Monterey, grown on a former river bed of sandy, rocky, granitic soils that drain fast. Native-yeast fermentation keeps the fruit clear and the spice lifted, so it stays bright and lightly grippy rather than heavy.

Flavors run to bright red raspberry, strawberry and blackberry with pomegranate, rhubarb and black cherry, a peppery tug and a subtle hint of basil and green chile. Kristie Tacey makes it in Berkeley in small lots to keep the Zabala character clear.

Tessier Winery

A former research scientist who worked on the Human Genome Project, Kristie Tacey founded Tessier in 2009 after moving to the Bay Area for biotech and catching the winemaking bug. She makes the wines in Berkeley and keeps the focus on small lots and site transparency.

Tessier sources organically farmed fruit from growers in Anderson Valley, the Santa Cruz Mountains, Arroyo Seco and El Dorado. In the cellar, Tacey practices native fermentations and minimal intervention to let each vineyard speak in its own voice.

Scale stays intentionally modest. The importer reports about 1,400 cases produced annually across the range, so each cuvee is made in small quantities and with plenty of hands-on attention.
