Antica Torino Vermouth di Torino Rosso 375mL
Antica Torino is the brainchild and longtime passion project of Liguria-based wine and spirits huntsman, Vittorio Zoppi, and Umbrian winemaker Filippo Antonelli. Vito’s love for Italian spirits began as it does for many in Italy—as a child surrounded by the time-honored traditions and legacies of regional drinking culture. By sampling and studying a wide variety of vermouth and digestivi from around the world, Antica Torino has endeavored to create refined recipes inspired by the traditions of Torino and enlivened by the Piedmontese spirit. After formulating their flagship Rosso Vermouth, the team turned their attention to (re)creating an increasing collection of heritage spirits, using ingredients from both Piedmont and around the world, coupled with painstaking research and an abiding love for the drinking traditions of Italy.
Sweet Vermouth inspired by the traditional recipes and ingredients of the Piedmont region. Primary botanicals include wormwood, rhubarb,
gentian, vanilla bean, rosemary, thyme, oregano, laurel leaves, and ginger. Base wine is composed of Piedmontese white wines including Bombino,
Trebbiano, Freisa, and a small percentage of Moscato, fortified with neutral wheat spirit. Botanicals are steeped individually in the neutral grain
spirit for 30–45 days, blended with wine and beet sugar, and rested in stainless steel tanks for 45–60 days before filtering and bottling.
Orange sherbet, fresh rosemary, and cola on the nose; juicy palate of orange and lime zest, vanilla, rhubarb root, and thyme with a lightly smoky,
bitter finish. This rosso vermouth is robust enough for classic cocktails such as Negronis and Manhattans but avoids a cloying finish, instead lending
jeweled fruit tones balanced by stemmy herbs and bright bitterness.
