Stanley's Wine Class - Exploring Austrian and German Wines - July 01, 2026, 6-7:30pm
For most American wine drinkers, Austrian and German wine remains unfamiliar territory — and that's a shame, because these are two of the most distinctive wine cultures in the world. Germany built its reputation on Riesling, one of the great white grapes, capable of extraordinary expression and longevity. Austria has Grüner Veltliner and its own Riesling tradition, but also a red wine story centered on Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt that most people never encounter. What unites them is a commitment to place: these are countries where terroir, grape variety, and winemaker restraint do the talking — not oak, not scores, not marketing. In this class, we'll pour six wines — classically styled, transparently made, and chosen with zero deference to ratings. Consider this your introduction to two of Europe's most rewarding and under-explored wine cultures.
*Please note $10 of the class fee is a service charge that goes directly to the staff supporting the event. Admission includes tastes of six wines, instructional materials, snacks, and the $10 service charge.
