BOULEVARD BREWING

A carpenter from Kansas City, MO was on vacation in France in the mid 1980s when he discovered the rich history and exciting flavors of European beer brewing tradition. A passion was ignited and John McDonald returned home where he set up a home brewing hobby. It didn’t take long for a reputation for brewing unique and tasty beers to transform John’s hobby into a dream of building a craft brewery.  Not far from his carpentry shop on Kansas City’s Southwest Boulevard, John’s dream was materialized when he converted an historic railroad facility into a small brewery in 1989.  Not long after, John personally delivered his first keg of pale ale to a small restaurant nearby.  Growth ensued and today, Boulevard Brewing Co. is the largest craft brewery in the state of Missouri.

As the company has expanded, they have endeavored to focus on environmentally friendly practices - they became a zero landfill company in 2011; sending what little waste that cannot be recycled to a local cement manufacturer who incinerates it to produce energy and then uses the ash as an ingredient in the concrete.  Solar panels and a green roof full of plants keep their energy consumption low while the newer facilities utilize natural light via large windows and skylights.

Stanley’s is excited to offer 3 beers from Boulevard’s Smokestack series: On tap at the bar and by-the-can in the retail shop, you’ll find the award-winning Tank 7, an American saison that is a modern twist on a Belgian classic. Also in the shop, the Dark Truth imperial stout offers complexity with subtle plum-like fruitiness from the Belgian yeast, spicy herbal notes from the noble German hops, and a velvety smooth mouthfeel that mellows to a dry, smoky finish. Lastly, the Espresso Martini Stout is a collaboration between Boulevard and another Kansas City outfit, Oddly Correct - a cafe and coffee roastery with a passion for expertly crafted espresso. As a limited release, be sure to grab it while it's here!
