Celler Ca Foracaime
Celler Ca Foracaime is the project of Sergi Serrano, a Terra Alta native who formalized the cellar in 2019 after years of making wine on a smaller, local scale. His goal is to bring back the flavors and textures of older, pre-industrial wines and share them more widely. The work is intentionally small and hands-on, utilizing vineyards around Pinell de Brai and neighboring villages. Their location is especially significant: Terra Alta is home to the oldest archaeological site for winemaking in Catalonia, giving the cellar a direct link to centuries of local winemaking history.
The wines are made with a scrupulous focus on natural processes. Fermentations rely solely on native yeasts, nothing is added during vinification, including no sulfur usage at any stage. Aging takes place in the underground cellar carved into rock beneath the village, where the naturally cool and stable conditions allow the wines to develop slowly and steadily, capturing the essence of the grapes and the land.
We’ve got two new and very limited releases in the shop! The 2023 Micalet Blanc, a textured, floral orange with honeyed nuance and citrus lift, and the 2024 Massanenca Roig, a savory, finely structured red with dark fruit and enough freshness to shine with a slight chill. Don’t miss out on these!
