Stagiaire
The name “Stagiaire,” meaning apprentice in French, is a nod to the humble beginnings of winemaker Brent Mayeaux, whose winemaking journey took him from California to New Zealand, Australia, and the Jura region of France before settling around the Bay Area. Working from a repurposed industrial space on Treasure Island, he collaborates with vineyards along the California coast from Santa Cruz to West County Sonoma. He prioritizes organic and regenerative farming practices, working in tune with nature instead of in spite of it. He believes that good fruit speaks for itself, and like a true apprentice he is always listening— staying humble, thoughtful, and ready to learn.
“Dreams on Layaway” is a direct-pressed Pinot Noir with notes of rose, dried cherry and herbs on the nose teasing a fresh cherry and strawberry fruit profile with silky smooth texture. Aged in barrel for two years. Like very serious white wine, but accidentally pink, think champagne’s slightly spunky little sister. Elegant yet fun, perfect for a Mother’s Day Brunch or tea party.
“It’s Your Birthday (And All Your Enemies are Dead!) is aptly named, a light and carefree wine with hidden depth. A lot is going on in the bottle: 1/3 direct pressed Chardonnay, 1/3 macerated Sauvignon Blanc, 1/6 Pinot Noir, and 1/6 Syrah- an assemblage of wines from different vineyards and vintages.Savory herbal notes on dried red fruits, with a clean and zippy finish. - scrumptious!
