La Mongestine

2024 Domaine de la Mongestine Bob Singlar 750mL

Sale price$24.00

1 in stock

Bright and refreshing at first sip, then a savory streak of dried herbs, wild berries, and an earthy, rustic Mediterranean edge keeps the glass moving. Light to medium in body, it rides a clean line of acidity and stays nimble. Tannins are gentle, the feel is crunchy and fresh, and the finish stays lifted and dry.

Céline and Harry Gozlan farm north-facing limestone and clay on the cooler side of Provence to bottle energy instead of heft. They ferment each variety on native yeast in stainless steel, blend for balance, and age in tank and amphora so nothing woody gets in the way. A mix from Grenache to Pinot Noir with a touch of Roussanne gives this its zip and ease, a Provence red that tastes distinctly their own.

La Mongestine

La Mongestine farms north facing slopes around Artigues in the Provence Verdon area, with vineyards reaching roughly 450 m in elevation. The estate sits within about 120 hectares of land with roughly 35 to 40 hectares under vine, certified organic and biodynamic, and the cellar focuses on native ferments and low intervention to keep the wines lively and fresh.

In 2017 the domaine was taken over by Céline and Harry Gozlan, who invested in vineyard and winery upgrades. Their aim is to make fresh, digestible wines that express this cooler corner of Provence, working with a mix of southern and northern grape varieties and keeping oak to a minimum.
